Mass Hysteria is a clever, funny, gory romp through Salem. A group of historical reenactors are putting on a play based on the infamous witch trials. During the pivotal scene during the performance where the accused witch places a curse upon Salem and the people that live there, and audience member dies. This sets off a chain reaction complete with a literal torch-bearing mob led by a zealous street preacher and a group of dude-bros intent on avenging their leader. All Paige wanted to do was to make it through this final performance and move on to her big-time acting career. Instead, she is running for her life along with the director and the rest of the cast.

The story takes several different turns before the final showdown, and the end is extremely satisfying. There is a perfect balance of humor, scares, and heart, making this a great watch in time for Halloween. Mass Hysteria plays well, taking advantage of horror tropes and allows us to laugh in the face of terror.
