Wordclock Gives Us a Glimpse of the Gods in "A Greater Bliss"

One of the most unique and esoteric artists in the dark ambient scene, as well as the Cryo Chamber roster returns with his newest album on Cryo Chamber. Pedro Pimental  - composer, multi-instrumentalist, engineer - the man’s artistry spans the gamut of this release, however, he is not alone, as several other professional musicians lend their talents to help eschew this spiritual musing to the listener in the fourth Wordclock album, A Greater Bliss

There is an esoteric flow to each song in this album, the first track, By Becoming It beginning with an almost euphoric languor, followed by the jaunty fresco of instruments and styles in the second track, Meant. I was carried along for each song, as if in a cosmic theme park, each track representing a new carnival attraction, and by track 3, The Spirit Chokes, I was hooked; granted, I am a sucker for melodious choirs and ethereal atmospheres, both of which are prominent within said song.

At the expense of using a contemporary “buzzword”, I still feel it imperative to use the term “diverse”, as this is perhaps one of the most descriptive words I could use to describe the songs and this entire album. The basic concept is to paint a “visual” image of deities through sound; various interpretations and religious figures are represented and displayed through each song, while also drawing upon the eclectic stable of contributing musicians to add their own personal flavor to each respective part. The end result is a patchwork quilt of sonic sui generis. Essentially, how does one comprehend a god, and more importantly, how does one begin to describe that god to others? Music is the universal language, and A Greater Bliss is one of the most unique experiences that dares to help describe the various godheads through interpretive sound design and composition.

This album must be heard to truly understand these descriptors, and you can purchase A Greater Bliss by Wordclock in CD Digipak and digital format on the Cryo Chamber bandcamp page.
